The founder of Flickr is Stewart Butterfield and Caterina Fake. It started out as a
chatroom with the ability to exchange photos.
In 2005 Flickr.com was acquired byYahoo!.
The website is very popular for users worldwide to share and embed personal
photographs, and effectively an online community. It is also widely used by photo
researchers and by bloggers to host images that they embed in blogs and social
media.
